training @ SYCC

attended a training workshop @ SYCC (shan you counselling centre) for all e OGLs (orientation grp leaders). cos i will be one of e OGLs for e coming dharma camp! haha..

hmm at first tot that e workshop will be v theory-based N boring.. but i was wrong. =P we started off with ice breaker games led by our own GLs.. *haha dun know y i always have no luck with games.. everytime gets e forfeit... -__- for e first game i got drawn on e face (using paint) by hidayat. (u'd better watch out hidayat.. muahahah *evil laughs)

next was our "dont-know-what-name" game.. conducted by me N isen. cos we got to come out with a name for our game but we cant think of a suitable name for it. anyway it sounds unique also. wahahaha.. =D

after ice breaking.. we played some "scary" games that requires us to move/ run abt. haha.. for one of e games we got to run with our eyes closed N a "safety net" will catch us to prevent us frm falling. before we started running we got to shout "safety net, are u ready?".. N they will reply "ready!" haha. even though e "safety net" doesnt sound convincing.. but at least no one was hurt throughout e game :)

we break for lunch after e games.. N after lunch we had more serious stuff like learning how to read non-verbal cues.. and active listening skill. for e active listening training.. we got to do a role play in our pairs - one listener, one speaker. we were given a topic to talk abt.. that is e "most impt things in ur life". haha.. other pairs were like having serious, heart-to-heart talk.. but e both of us were crapping all e way (oops =X) saying stuff like food, sleep, dharma, family, frens.. blah blah... =P

last activity was grp discussion on a dharma topic.. led by individual GLs pair. we discussed topics like "does buddhist has to be vegetarian?", "do we need to become monks/nuns to reach enlightment?", and things abt karma N also attachment. me N isen did e topic on attachment.. haha. it was after e sharing session that i realised that faciliators do not need to know alot abt e dharma.. cos if participants were to shoot a qn that we cant ans.. we can direct back e qn back to other members in e grp who might knows e ans. *we have learnt how to "arrow" pple.. muahaha.. =D

maybe i can share something that i have learnt abt attachment.
1. it doesnt mean that being a monk/nun will free urself frm attachment.. it only means that ur attachment to wordly things will lessen.
2. (in e sch context) if we have put in our best effort, hoping for an A.. but end up gotten a B grade instead. it might be due to karma frm our past lives or juz pure bad luck. hmm but no matter wat..we shld accept it N let go of e attachment to e A grade.

it is thru letting go of ur attachment that u can experience true happiness. why? cos nothing is permanent in this world.. u might feel happy with ur family, bf/gf, $$, material possesions, grades, etc.. but all these will eventually leave u one day........ e "happiness" that u once felt will turn into sorrow/ suffering.. thus it is not true happiness anymore :)
